George Collier is a relatively unknown and seldom exhibited photographer living in Richmond, VA. After college, and a period of aimlessness, he accepted a strong offer to work in the graphic arts business, with graphics, for various printing methods. His original (naive) plan was to work for 3 years, while developing a personal photographic vision, then segue into a fine art career (a good friend chuckled at this notion, but George did not take note). He was shocked to discover that the activities of self-marketing and the seeking of gallery representation did not possess the fulfillment or enjoyment of the actual work of image creation. Consequently, he has spent most of his time over the decades making images with traditional analog methods. Upon retirement, and the coming of Covid 19, he began to scan decades of negatives and developed digital versions of these images, in addition to discovering a whole new method of organizing and understanding what he’s been doing. He realized that with the ability to create a web presence, and the resulting exposure to the world, it made sense to attempt marketing his images this way. Having his images hung is the primary objective.
